Maven, A Midcentury Modern Dream Collection
Posted by Elaina on
Looking for the right hardware to accent your midcentury home and furniture? New for 2021, the Maven collection incorporates classic midcentury shapes and geometry designed with ergonomics in mind.
Generous finger height (space between the base of the hardware and the top of the handle) and a smooth concave divot echoed on every piece makes the collection a pleasure to hold and interact with.
The posts (feet) on Maven pulls incorporate the iconic shapes of the tapered chair and table bases of the Eero Saarinen Pedestal Series, designed in the late 1950s for Knoll. Knobs and hooks in the collection echo the pedestal bowl trend. The much buzzed Leanne Ford collaboration with Crate & Barrel comes to mind as well as Target’s own Project 62 brand of footed bowls. So-now pill shapes have pulled the collection into the contemporary era.
Maven is shown above utilizing the hook from the collection as an oversized knob on a midcentury nightstand in Brushed Golden Brass finish.
Detail shot of the hooks showcasing the unique pedestal bowl shape.
For something more proportionate to the size of this particular nightstand, the collection also has a smaller version of that hook in a more common knob size. Shown here in Matte Black.
For something even more dainty, these pinch knobs work perfect for a pared down look with a stunning tapered profile.
In the kitchen, Maven reveals its versatility. Shown above in the 96mm pull size. While it’ll look great on flat midcentury or modern style cabinets, this collection will also work effortlessly on transitional style kitchens.
A shot comparing all the currently available finishes for Maven from top to bottom:
- Matte Black: Smooth coated black finish with just enough sheen to resist fingerprints.
- Brushed Golden Brass: A rich warm red-gold with a nice brush pattern and soft sheen.
- Satin Nickel: A warm silver with visible brushing and gloss.
- Chrome: A cool blue-toned smooth silver that’s polished to a mirror-like finish.
